Understanding Feed-In Tariffs (FiTs) in Victoria

Feed-in tariffs (FiTs) are payments you receive from your energy provider or the government for generating clean, renewable energy through your solar system. When your solar panels produce more electricity than your home or business uses, the excess energy is exported back to the grid. In return, you’re credited for the energy you supply.

In Victoria, feed-in tariffs are reviewed annually by the Essential Services Commission (ESC). As of the latest update, all Victorian electricity retailers are required to pay a minimum of 12 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for exported solar energy.
